With a Bachelor's degree in Cartographic Engineering (Surveying and Spatial Science) and a Master's in GIS and Remote Sensing, Luiz is currently concluding his Ph.D. at São Paulo State University - Brazil where he deepened into the world of remote sensing and deep learning. His academic journey has been enriched by international research periods, most notably at the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute in Finland and Curtin University in Australia along 2021 and 2023 respectively. As an individual member of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), he has also made contributions to the field by publishing articles in peer-reviewed journals like Remote Sensing Journal and presenting his work at ISPRS conferences.
Luiz brings an extensive skill set to the table, including expertise in remote sensing, GIS, and photogrammetry. Proficient in cutting-edge programming languages and tools such as Python, R, SQL, and PostgreSQL/PostGIS, he has worked on a diverse range of projects—from designing a database to organize multi-temporal georeferenced images to applying machine learning/deep learning techniques for spatial data analysis.
He is not just enthusiastic about technological advancements; he is also committed to using them to make a meaningful impact. Luiz's ultimate aim is to leverage his skills in remote sensing for the greater good— help to improve world for all earth-life.
